So the issues on the v5, which is supposed to be a near shipping product.
- Running at 80Hz (not 82hz stable)
- Tracking issues (this is a tried and tested SDK so it is odd to show up with tracking issues)
- Vivid lens distortions in the peripheral
- Artifacts and clarity issues with the panels
- IPD not working?
- Ergonomics in an alpha stage
This sounds more like an alpha DK1 than a DK2/CV1
I think Pimax need to invest some of that money on hiring a HTC engineer to fix the tracking as that should be the easy bit. And if covering up the sensors caused tracking issues then that would have been obvious the moment they tested it internally.
When people hear that you are asking what games should you test on, that you have a head strap and that the unit is now smooth without visible sensors, that gives the impression that you are ironing out the tiny details. Frankly I think the community is being taken for a ride. The booth wasn't even half of what you wanted either.
But then we get very little information on what is going on so assume things are progressing nicely and have to wait for CES 2018 to be underwhelmed and worried that the backing is most likely going to be a flop, and even more important in that 8K 90Hz 200 Fov really is a pipe dream for 2018. There are too many issues to fix even in the 12 months.
Yes I am sceptical. Prove me wrong and I will buy you a pint.
