Pimax 8k X with DisplayPort 1.5 / HDMI 2.1

Since the Pimax 8k X HMD will be release late 2020, why not bringing it with HDMI 2.1 or even Diplayport 1.5 after the release of rtx 3080 ti which will most likely have those connectors

Display port 1.5 is actually known as 2.0. Displayport is better than HDMI as it can support more than one screen at a time, whereas HDMI does not have support for dual monitors, although this might have changed in HDMI 2.1. 4k oled screens of the right dimensions aren’t even available yet.

I think its not good to put off release for such things, display port 2.0 will be available by the end of 2020 so we will see GPUs in 2020 or in 2021 with DP 2.0, there’s nothing preventing Pimax from releasing 2.0 refreshes with full fov 120hz of the 8KX, 5K+, and 8KXR oled in 2021 or late 2020 when the gpus are there. Supposedly the 8KX display can support 90hz natively but the issue is that the RTX 2000 series of GPUs cannot for some reason render more than 75hz per screen, hopefully this issue is fixed with the RTX 3000 series.

Specs aren’t out, you don’t know if it’s even going to support it. Also EVERYBODY would need to upgrade, I’m sure that will cause a sh*t storm here on the forums

You know that the rtx 3080 ti gonna be minimal spec for the pimax 8k X if you want to play some decent games like asgarths wrath

sure but there will be a lot users with 1080TI, 2080TI etc. I’m 100% sure they’d not be happy.

Its an enthusiast product , so if new gpus do come out we are buying them anyway ( even having an rtx 2080 ti we would upgrade immediately to 3080 ti ) .

Make it future proof whatever device you’re creating.

Is the Bandwith high enough of a Displaport 2.0 to push the Pimax 8k X to native resolution @ 90 hz or even 120hz ?
